The materials found in Solar Panels
Most solar panels are produced using three main components including glass, metal and silicon. Silicon is the main part of a solar panel that can turn sunlight into energy. When sunlight interacts with the cells inside a solar cell the electrons can be stimulated and the energy that’s produced through this stimulation is converted into electricity that powers your home.
Silicon cells come in many different forms including polycrystalline and monocrystalline structures. Monocrystalline panels are often made from a large block of silicon which is placed into a silicon wafer and fixed into the panels. Polycrystalline cells are produced by melting together multiple silicon crystals to produce the cell.
Monocrystalline panels are much more effective but they are more expensive to produce.
